Foreign nationals who have recently arrived in Japan (Moving in from Abroad)

Make a Moving-in Notification  within 14 days of changing your address from one abroad to one in Fukui City at the number 5 window of the Citizen’s Affairs Division at Fukui City Hall. Do not forget to submit your Residence Card issued at the airport upon entering Japan.

☆Things you need to prepare

・Zairyu Card(Residence Card) (If your Residence Card has not yet arrived, present your passport instead)※ Residence Cards for all individuals moving in.

・Official document certifying the relationship between the applicant and the head of household, and its Japanese translation (in the case that the head of household is a foreign resident)

・Notification of Change of Address(You can obtain it at the window.)

Foreign nationals moving in from outside of the city (Moving in)

Take the Moving-out Certificate you received from your previous city/ward/town/village and make a notification of address change at the number 5 window of the Citizen’s Affairs Division at Fukui City Hall within 14 days after you move into Fukui City.

・Residence Card or Special Permanent Resident Certificate ※ Residence Cards of all those involved.

・Moving-out Certificate

・Official document certifying the relationship between the applicant and the head of household, and its Japanese translation (in the case the head of household is a foreign resident).

Other Procedures After Entering Japan or Moving into Fukui City

Joining JICHIKAI (Residents’ Association)

JICHIKAI (Residents’ Associations) are associations for local residents to enhance communication and to solve various problems in the community by cooperating each other. They participate in such activities as:
○Sports and Recreational activities
○Mutual cooperation in case of calamities
○Managing garbage stations
○Children's clubs and child-parent gatherings
○Cleaning up the streets and clearing away the snow in your neighborhood
Fukui City Hall distributes various information bulletins including “SHISEI KOHO" (Fukui City Public Relations) through neighborhood associations. We highly recommend joining your local JICHIKAI. Inquire about how to join your residents’ association below.

Foreign Residents Moving Within the city (Change of Address)

When you change your address in Fukui City, make a notification of new address at the number 5 window of the Citizen’s Affairs Division at Fukui City Hall within 14 days after you move into Fukui City.

When moving out of Fukui City, make a notification of move-out at the number 5 window of the Citizen’s Affairs Division at Fukui City Hall

・Legal Identification 《Zairyu Card (Residence Card) or Special Permanent Resident Certificate, driver's license, etc.》

How to Obtain a Residence Certificate as a Foreign Resident

Residence Certificates are issued to both Japanese and foreign residents by request.

Applicants can request Residence Certificates only for themselves and their dependents. In the event of applications by proxy, a Notification of Election of Agent or a Letter of Attorney with both seal and signature of the principal will be required.

<When the applicant is the person in question or a member of the person’s household>

・Personal seal (if registered)

・Legal Identification 《Zairyu Card (Residence Card) or Special Permanent Resident Certificate, driver's license, etc.》

・Fee: \300

<When applying by proxy>

・Proxy's seal (if registered)

・Notification of Election of Agent or Letter of Attorney (If the person applying does not have their personal seal, attach a copy of their Residence Card or write in their Residence Card number)

・Proxy's Legal Identification 《Zairyu Card (Residence Card) or Special Permanent Resident Certificate, driver's license, etc.》
